Fabula Nova Crystallis

On the geek side of things, there have been some exciting news floating around the rumor mill around SquareEnix's thirteenth (fourteenth if you count X and X-2 seperately) installment(s) in the Final Fantasy series. Square has been working on this project since 2006 and from merely watching the extended trailers (FFXIII and FFXIIIV) released not too long ago, I can definitely say that these are going to be two of Sony's bigger guns! With all the highly anticipated games that were due to be released late last year and then hit with last minute delays, there is yet hope for all of us Final Fantasy fanboys and fangirls alike.

In a recent interview with gaming director Motomu Toriyama of SquareEnix in Japanese magazines Famitsu and Dengeki (translated by Chas at ff-xiii.net,) he states that:

"2008 will be the year. There will be tons of news bits, info on characters and summons, and an unexpected connection between the keywords Cocoon and Farushi. [...] We're aiming for a demo to give players a hands on on the battle system."
With that being said, it's hard to say exactly when the demo will be released to the public let alone a finished product, but expect PS3 sales to soar as these titles (Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII Versus) will be two of the several "PS3 exclusive" titles that will definitely showcase the sheer power of Sony's Playstation 3 system and bring them back and running into the midst of the console war.

I've never been a PS3 person .. I am all Xbox 360. Why? Few reasons, the games on PS3 are not that many, only a few titles and not the best sellers (like BioShock, Gears of War, Halo3, etc) .. and the games actually look better on 360.

Secondly, there is no achievements system on PS3 .. Xbox 360 has the best achievements system which is actually addictive

I definitely respect your opinions. I myself am the exact opposite and not much of an Xbox 360 person. To that extent, I still think the Xbox is a great system if you like what it offers. I have always been a "Playstation" kind of guy because of the specific games they offer (such as Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, more so because of all the fantasy RPG's they offer.) As far as how certain games "look" on the Xbox, what real proof do you have to compare them to? Do you even have a PS3? Seems to me that most multi console games that have been compared were made first for the Xbox and when ported over did not use the full extent of the PS3's hardware. Have you seen the real "in game" footage of Metal Gear Solid 4? I'm not so sure Xbox could handle a game like that. Anyway, while Xbox maybe a good console, I still love my Playstation. (And by the way, Blu-Ray FTW!)
